Truckee was developed by Charles Crocker of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1868 establishing lots for sale. In 1905, the Wergland House was operating to provide lodging to the booming lumber and ice making industries. Over the years the look of the Wergland House changed including a partial rebuilding from a fire in the 40’s but has always been operated as housing for people working in Truckee.
The Wergland House is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and was completely restored in 2015 taking the exterior back to its original look while modernizing the interior to meet comfort and safety needs of today.
The Wergland House offers newly constructed apartments inside a fully restored downtown historical building. Located in historic Brickelltown with a short walk to all that downtown Truckee has to offer.
